Georgia is at the intersection of Europe and Asia, a former Soviet republic it’s home to the southern Caucasus Mountains and the Lesser Caucasus. Famous for it’s red wine, amazing cuisine and warm hospitality it’s quickly becoming a popular destination for freeriders. Our destination is Bakhmaro in the Lesser Caucasus a summer village at 2050m which is ladden with snow in the winter and the perfect destination for a weeks Cat Boarding.
Having a snowcat at our disposal will mean a lot of riding, we will also do some bootpacking to access terrain the snowcat can’t reach so be prepared for short walks. A good level of fitness and a reasonable amount of powder riding experience is required to get the most out of the week.
Accommodation
We’ll be staying at the Panorama Hotel where we’ll be hosted by George our local guide and hotel owner. Bring a healthy appetite as evening meals will be a feast of the best Georgian cuisine all washed down with some of the finest red wine after recovering in our very own personal wood fired sauna.
Logistics
Flying into the coastal town of Batumi it’s a two hour transfer to the base of the mountain where we’ll hop onto a snowcat for the shuttle up to our hotel. With 6 days of Catboarding we’ll have plenty of time to explore everything the vast terrain around Bakhmaro has to offer. Enjoying the amazing Georgian cuisine and wine in evenings and recovering in our very own personal wood fired sauna.
